I took admission in B.Sc optometry & ophthalmic Technology in year 2000 at Allama Iqbal Open University. Although I belong to Faisalabad, my study center was the Department of Ophthalmology Services Hospital, Lahore. In this department all latest facilities about eye examination were available. During study all my colleagues and I did not face any problem. Among my tutors I am especially thankful to Madam Dr Amtul Mussawar Sami who’s guidance really persuaded me to complete my graduation.

Thanks to Allah that I have completed my B.Sc successfully. Now I am doing my first job successfully and confidently, as an optometrist in my own private eye clinic under the supervision of an ophthalmologist.

My experience shows that this is an informative and productive course in which we study all basic knowledge about eye, for example “Anatomy physiology, Pharmacology of the eye orthoptics, properties of lens etc and we learn the use of Ophthalmologic instruments, screening the patients for minor ailments by using examination techniques. All these courses are focused on exposing students to practical experiences.

In the last I like to express my thanks to Prof. Dr. Perveen Liaqat who initiated this valuable programme which enabled the students to acquire highly technical knowledge. I also like to thank the programme coordinator and the health worker Mrs. Hajra Ahmad and Mr. Afaq in the Dept. of Home and Health Sciences of AIOU to provide guidance, counseling to individual students seeking admission.
