| Introduction |
The Department of Home and Health Sciences also offers diploma courses in the field of nutrition and dietetics for doctors and dieticians. These have also been launched in collaboration with Kings College , London , U.K. The study centers are established at local teaching hospitals/ institutions at Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Lahore , Karachi , Faisalabad , Peshawar , and Multan . Qualified tutors are drawn from these institutions for providing necessary guidance to the students.

Eligibility Criteria |
The following categories of students are eligible for PGD in Dietetics:
– M.Sc. Food & Nutrition (Home Economics) with teaching and Hospital experience.
– B.Sc. Community Nursing (16 years of education) with minimum of three years hospital experience.

| Practical Work |
Three days practical training workshop for Food Microbiology, Food Studies, Food Science and its applications and Human Nutrition courses are arranged in the local teaching institutions like PCSIR, NIH and PARC and newly established Labs at AIOU etc., towards the end of the study period during which practicals are conducted and demonstrations by the subject experts are arranged.
During the study period the students are required to complete their community/field work and submit their mini-research reports to their respective tutors, on the prescribed format.

Diploma in Dietetics was launched before M.Sc Community health and Nutrition in 1998. It is also offered all over Pakistan once a year i.e., Autumn. The study centers are established at local teaching hospitals/ Institutions at Islamabad/ Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad, Peshawar and Multan. So far, 18 students have taken their diploma in Dietetics. Year wise distribution of Pass out students is shown in the bar graph.
