PGD in Nutrition
   
Introduction  

The Department of Home and Health Sciences also offers diploma courses in the field of nutrition and dietetics for doctors and Dieticians. These are also launched in collaboration with Kings College, London, U.K. The study centers are established at local teaching hospitals/ institutions at Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad, Peshawar, and Multan. Qualified tutors are drawn from these institutions for providing necessary guidance to the students.

   
Eligibility Criteria  
  • M.B.B.S with experience in the field of Peadiatrics, Cardiology, Diabetes and Urology etc. are eligible for PGD in Nutrition
Duration and Credit requirement

Minimum two semester (One years)

Five full credits


Scheme of Studies and Course Contents
Postgraduate Diploma consists of the following eight courses and the student is expected to earn a total of 5 full credits for successful completion of a Postgraduate Diploma in Nutrition for Physicians. Design concepts of Nutritional Epidemiology 864 is one of the compulsory courses for Physicians. The list of the courses is given as under:

Practical Work

Five days practical training workshop for Courses like Food Studies and Human Nutrition are arranged in local teaching institutions like PCSIR, NIH etc towards the end of the study period during which practicals are conducted and demonstrations from subject experts are arranged.

During the study period he students are required to complete their community/ field work and submit their achievement reports to their respective tutors, on the prescribed format.

Alumni  

Diploma in Nutrition has been launched before M.Sc Community health and Nutrition in 1998. It is also offered all over Pakistan and once a year i.e., Autumn. The study centers are established at local teaching hospitals/ Institutions at Islamabad/ Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad, Peshawar and Multan.
