In addition to history and recent developments of plant ecology, the course includes survey of environmental factors, such as soil, water, air, light, temperature, etc. and responses to these by an individual plant. Emphasis will be laid on role of Carbon dioxide and oxygen and their importance in the ecological processes. Moreover, nutrient cycling, soil erosion, salt & drought stress; and ecological factors like wind and fire will be discussed in detail. |
